New auction widget tool makes ad sense - Advertising - BizReport: "New auction widget tool makes ad sense
A new advertising tool could do for the online auction marketplace what Google's AdSense program did for standard online advertising. A start-up affiliate program from AuctionAds will give publishers the option of advertising online auctions through a widget on the website with the chance to make referral income.

The widgets are related to the content already on the site. Once a user clicks through and makes a transaction, the publisher earns a commission. Publishers can rotate and change keywords related to the ads by listing the keywords they wish to be used in a tagline. The AuctionAds platform will then rotate the keywords on a regular basis.
AuctionAds launched in March and so far have more than 7,000 publishers on board with the new model.
AuctionAds is actually quite similar to Ebay's own contextual ad platform called AdContext. It launched last year. So far, the two companies seem to be working well together.
This new program, though, is more than a way for publishers to earn revenue from a website. The program could also help advertisers reach another segment of the online population. By contextually targeting ads to the content on a website, advertisers and auctioneers have a better chance of garnering the interest of users who don't normally frequent online auctions."
